Lugh’s festival falls on August 1st and is known as Lughnasadh or Lammas. In Irish Gaelic, the word for August is Lunasa. The Feast of Lughnasadh falls on the cross-quarter day between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox. Lugh is honored with corn, grains, bread, and other symbols of the harvest. At this time we celebrate the first harvest of the summer crops and all of the abundance the Universe has provided in all areas of our lives. You can honor Lugh by baking wheat (or a natural) bread, and offer it to him on your Altar or sacred space along with fresh fruits and vegetables. Give thanks that you have fresh, natural food and anticipate the remaining harvests of the year to be bountiful. Take a moment to relax in the summer sun’s heat, and reflect on the upcoming opulence of the Autumn months.
